Mussoorie Vibes

प्यार हमें किस मोड़ पे में आया...

I have been working like crazy on a content project about Uttaranchal, which means writing about pretty, happy getaways for about a month. Amidst all this work and heart break saga, Mussoorie vibes, no, strong Mussoorie Vibes have engulfed me and how. It is amazing how I get this wanderlust feeling for a place I have been to a couple of times already.

दिल है की मानता नहीं...

But Mussoorie is epic, and how can someone get enough of this slice of heaven. If given a choice, lifetime supply of red velvet cheesecake or Mussoorie, I’ll choose Mussoorie! That is the level of love. I have a trunk full, yes that’s right a trunk full of memories about my awesome Mussoorie trips.

The first time I visited was with my then favorite cousins (you know how preferences change in life!) and it was a laugh riot. The younger versions of us, fluttering first love discussions, donuts from Mall Road, sneaked out alcohol and the mountain dusk, life seemed sorted. I am glad that even though the relation has tattered, but relation and love for Mussoorie is same.

The next visit after a couple of years was with my favorite people, mom, dad, and the reigning favorite cousin. Thankfully our mutual admiration hasn’t changed. It was New Year’s Eve and the place was buzzing with energy. Mall Road looked like Connaught Place – so many people, so many stories and so many memories. A balcony overlooking the mountains, stars glittering and that divine fragrance of eucalyptus overpowering the whiff of vodka, that’s how our New Year celebrations looked like.

And like most hill stations, the Mall Road in Mussoorie is the hub of all activity. Shop till you drop, sip coffee in the hidden cafes, soak up some mountain sun or just be amazed by the overlooking mountains, Mall Road is nothing less than pure bred Romance! Don’t miss this charming little paradise towards the end of Mall Road – Kalsang. Heavenly Chinese delicacies and complimentary view of the distant peaks! To make your holiday a tad bit sweeter are the immensely popular bakeries at the far end of the Mall Road (I have totally forgotten the names). Heavenly pastries, sinful donuts and delightful coffee, it doesn’t get any better than this.

दिल - ऐ - नादां तुझे हुआ क्या है...
Become typically touristy and visit Kempty Falls. And then there is Gun Hill, Jhirapani Falls and the evergreen ropeway. I told you there is a lot to do, only if you get going from your romantic balcony…
चलो दिलदार चलो , चाँद के पार चलो...
It has been quite some time since I last visited Mussoorie, but the cravings have increased exponentially in the past few days. Adding fuel to the fire was this stunning Instagram account – mytraveldiaryblog. Drool worthy photographs and her subtle stories made me fall in love with the account and of course Mussoorie.

Also this time I visit, I’ll keep my fingers crossed in hope of meeting Ruskin Bond. Lal Tibba, that bookstore and Rusty, I am already excited.

तुम जो मिल गए हो, तो यह लगता है.

Papa. Papa. Papa…whenever you read this please note that we need to seriously consider Mussoorie as a strong contender. Let’s go, you know it is amazing.

कहीं दूर जब दिन ढल जाये...
There is something enthralling about Mussoorie. Some say it is the serenity while some say it is the mountain feel. Whatever it is, one has to be there to witness all of these and bring them back to the treasure box of their stories and memories. Mussoorie awaits you with a story untold and a treasure unseen.
