Favorite Happy Places

One day life would make perfect sense and everything would be sorted. Until then enjoy the winter sun and tea…

A lot of times it is about the happy ending, but lately my mind has been contradicting this rule of heart. Sometimes it’s not about the happy ending; rather it is about the story.
The story of some of my favorite happy places in Delhi follows.
  • Majnu ka Tila

Spend some time at Majnu ka Tila and your heart would be a happier than ever. Every Dilliwala’s replacement of McLeodganj, the amazing Majnu ka Tila redefines happiness for me.

Thank me later for awesome food (like really awesome) and an amazing experience.
Rigo is my favorite restaurant. Then there is Coffee House for the delicious and heartwarming peach tea and marble cake.
A cup of tea makes everything better!
Not to forget the epic cool Ama Café – such pretty interiors and peaceful aura, the only thing missing are the mighty mountains and the fragrant breeze.

Coffee mornings
Street shopping is an elevating experience. So the next time your heart craves Tibetan vibes and your brain tells you that going to Dharamshala is not possible, take your heart, brain and soul to Majnu ka Tila and fill them with bliss.
  • Cha Bar
Swanky name, quintessential chic, and ever crowded, that’s Cha Bar.
Bookstores always have a rosy joyous vibe and Cha Bar leads by example.

Although it is a book café, but the hustle bustle would barely let you read in peace. Plugging in the earphones might help!

Table full of happy!
A great place for casual meeting with friends, bookstore dates, spending rainy evenings with dear Samosa!
Keema Samosa and Bun Omelette :)
  • Old Delhi
The unmatched swag of Delhi – 6. Happiness has different facets in Old Delhi.
Shaadi shopping, yummy food hogging, touristy sightseeing and all other bling, if all of this doesn’t make you happy, then God alone knows what will.
Jama Masjid and its glory!

Woh Meena Bazaar ki raunak aur Lal Qila ki shaan!
Happiness of varied kinds –
  • Oh so popular Instagram Photo Walks in the old bazaars
  • Shopaholic exuberance
  • Bibliophile tendencies – Sunday Book Market at Daryaganj
  • DSLR Flaunting – You got a new camera, I am sure Chandni Chowk candid photography is on your list
  • Foodie happiness – Karims and mutton qorma, paranthe wali gali and cannot type more because of high level of midnight cravings…
Crappy picture, amazing food!
  • Khan Market
From the rustic lanes of old Delhi to the verve and flamboyant Khan Market!
Whether you are the LV and Zara type, or the FabIndia and kohlapuri type, Khan Market never disappoints. Fall prey to its killer style and you’ll not regret.

The happy and overpriced shopping would make you feel rich and be beneficial in overcoming the ‘I am so worthless’ feel.
Of course there is the pedestal of happy places – The Big Chill Café!
Chocolate Decadence at Big Chill....
Retail Therapy at Khan Market!

And just when you thought that Khan Market is like that brainless pouty classmate of yours, it surprises you with some extra dose of unmatched class.
Bahrisons bookstore and its legacy, dainty Café Turtle – Full Circle bookstore, and so Bombayish Sodabotteopenerwala.

You have to be there to find out what happy looks like.
P.S – Stop and say hi if you find me meandering at my ultimate happy place…
  • Dilli Haat
I always save the best for the last.
Shopping, sunshine and happiness at Dilli Haat :)
You shop for pretty suits/sarees, get floored by the stunning jewelry, soak up some winter sun, sip kulhad wali chai, gorge upon irresistible pyaaz ki kachori, shop some more, taste free churan from the stalls, and finally reach momo heaven! All this and a lot more awaits you at Dilli Haat.
Chicken momos and all the happiness!

Coping with heartbreak wrath, bestie catching up, gossiping with mom, happy sun kissed dates, or just refueling the ultimate ethnic feel – Dilli Haat is the place to be.
