Top 5 Creepy Books - Part II

Hi everyone!
I was unwell and had this bad allergy on my face, thus, the missing in action scene happened. Feeling okay now, working like crazy  and what can be better than talking about books to feel happier.

I'd blogged about my top 5 creepy books - part 1 2 weeks ago and now it is time for part 2.
The festive vibe is buzzing, the slight shyness in the sunshine and hues of winters walking slowly towards us make the perfect setting for some happy reads. But these creepy ones will break the monotony, so let’s straightaway jump right into the pool of happiness.

  • The Girl on the Train (Paula Hawkins)
The movie comes out this week, and it better be good. The book is fast paced and keeps you on the edge. It is a great thriller and does have those creeps in parts. You’ll be largely reminded of Gone Girl, but this one as its own personality. Keep a happy read ready, you’ll need it after this.

Maannnsssiiii! Thank you for this pretty picture.
Rachel travels by the train everyday and sees the same things, until one day when she sees something and her world is thrown upside down.

  • Sickened (Julie Gregory)
On the lines of Sybil, Sickened is sick. It is on the lines of Sybil and disturbed me no end. The basis is MBP – Munchausen by proxy abuse. It is considered to be one of the most dangerous forms of child abuse.

Dark and gloomy, just like the book.
It is not just about physical abuse, but how Julie goes through emotional turmoil and mental trauma. Julie’s heart wrenching memoir is creepily intriguing.

  • Sharp Objects (Gillian Flynn)
The list cannot be complete without a Gillian Flynn book. I wonder how she manages to get the dreadful feel on point every time! If there is one word that describes the book in a perfect sense, it is disgusting. It gives you creeps like nobody’s business, OMG.

Creepy at a new level.
Sharp Objects has all the ingredients that a perfect thriller should have - psycho madness, killings, tension, and lots of blood. It is indeed a compelling read.
Read it in a happy setting, and be prepared for a heavy book hangover.

  • The Girls with All the Gifts (M.R. Carey)
It is ghoulish, yet full of warmth. The detailed descriptions affect you for a long time. Melanie and Miss. J are perfect examples of trust and love. Plus points for the ending, I like how it turns out to be.

Haven't seen the movie, but I hope it is as good as the book.
This is that creepy book which will leave it’s fragrance in the air. You can almost smell the eerie feel. If you want to read something creepy yet not very harsh, this is what you should be reading.

  • The Silence of the Lambs (Thomas Harris)
Saved the best for the last! The Silence of the Lambs gives sends strong chills down your spine. It is disgusting and gruesome, getting you addicted. Dr. Hannibal Lecter is excellence redefined. Be ready to get goosebumps and thinking about it all the time. It is a masterpiece that you cannot put down.

Beyond Brilliant...
Watch the movie after you read the book and you’ll love it even more. The movie is in fact one of the best book to movie adaptations.

Tell me if you’ve read any of these and loved them as much as I do. Love XOXO

  1. The Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies of all time but I've never read the Hannibal Lecter series although I should, considering her's my favorite fictional serial killer. This list is awesome. I've read The Girl On the Train and damn you're right, it's super hard to put down. I had my exams in like 4 days when I picked it up and then I just couldn't stop.
