Book Review - We Were Liars
We Were Liars – E.
Lockhart
My Rating – 3.85
While the world is
being all mushy and celebrating Valentine’s Day, I am sitting on my giant
writing table with a bouquet of thoughts warmed by a cup of steaming hot coffee
and doing what I love the most (after reading) – writing book reviews!
So should I just lie about
what I feel about We Were Liars?
I wanted to read it
since last year and had added it to my ever increasing ‘to-read’ list. Finally striking
it off! The satisfaction and contentment to read something phenomenal from your
‘to-read’ list cannot be put in words.
The book is awesome. There
is an array of emotions that the author plays with. The presentation is also a
highlight.
In the beginning the
long list of names, places and their relations with each other can be slightly
confusing. You can always make notes!
The relationship
between the four liars,; the ties of the family and their struggles are very
well depicted through words.
The undercurrent of Gat
and Candence’s romance is heartwarming. The way Candece describes Gat is beyond
love. “He was contemplation and enthusiasm. Ambition and Strong Coffee.” How can
someone not fall in love with these words and this romance!
It can be said that the
theme is a little sad, but the suspense that the ‘Liars’ continue to build till
the end keeps driving you to read! A great YA read, somber but liberating at
the same time.
Happy Reading!
