Pahaadon Wala Pyar!

It is again 5 in the morning and today I am in deep thoughts about my first love – mountains!

I feel that mountain love stories or ‘pahadon wala pyaar’ as I call it, has a whiff of magic and extra doze of romance. All this courtesy that divine Eucalyptus fragrance, the nooks and crannies of love and of course the magnificent spell of mountains. I’ll not say that I am speaking about this from experience (understand, even momma has to read the blog and some things are better kept secret).

This is what morning romance looks like up in the mountains.
Would-be husband (although not happening any time soon), please take notes.
My love for mountains is ancient now. I don’t know what is it that makes me madly in love with them.
Reading corner goals!
A couple of years back we had gone for a vacation to Manali, a popular hill station in north India. That was the time when I was making the first draft of December Breeze, yes my debut book. There was this small passage connecting the two blocks of the hotel building. It looked upon snow covered mountains in the distance. I remember spending a large part of the day (repeated quite a few times) gazing at the mountains and weaving some of the most lovely ideas for the book. The sky kept changing color as if trying to match it to a shade card. And the irony is that even in the book the main characters were somewhere up in the mountains.

Mountain Glee
The surreal beauty and enigmatic charm is what adds to the fun of being in the hills. Stopping at a roadside stall to catch the gorgeous sunset with adrak wali chai, aaah it is pure bliss. Relishing egg bhurji, scrumptious parathas, pakodasand breathing in the fragrant morning breeze – mountains really are meant for the best love stories. The solitude that these gigantic rock solid beauties have is unmatched.
This is from my last trip to Kanatal (up in the Himalayas). Pa! remember this?
And just in case you don’t believe me and my delusional philosophy, I have another proof. The romance Ruskin Bond infuses into his work needs no introduction. I am sure that his beautiful house in the hills must have witnessed heart aches and cupcakes alike!

Bedroom goals, or maybe holiday home goals...
So the next time you are driving, walking, strolling or cycling in the meandering mountain roads pause and let life take over.

हुस्न पहाड़ों का!
Until then let there be.....
Even चाय will do!
