Top 5 YA Books

Hi everyone!

I am the happiest when reading or when talking about books. It’s been quite some time that I am on a YA reading spree, so though it’ll be good to share my favorites with you all.
Also this is the perfect weather to read young adult books, romance specially. If you are craving for some warmth and sunshine in this gloomy weather, these are what you should be reading.

Although choosing 5 was the most difficult task, I felt like choosing between my children. Let’s get started without further ado.

Top 5 young adult books from my bookshelf

  • Things We Know by Heart (Jessi Kirby)
Isn’t it the best feeling when you read a book and it surpasses all your expectations? I know booknerds like me will answer yes!

Things We Know by Heart is a heartwarming tale of romance, loss and a rollercoaster of emotions. You can feel the grief, loss and emotions come alive. Quinn and Colton are adorbssss! You can concord his helplessness and her restless upheaval of emotions.
Heart knows the best maps!
It’s warm, fuzzy and has all the YA vibes on point. It’s like having a cup of hot chocolate on a cold evening. Oh yes, also a perfect winter sun read!!

  • Looking for Alaska (John Green)
People say that John Green is the czar of YA and they aren’t wrong. Of course nothing comes close to The Fault in Our Stars, but Looking for Alaska is my utter favorite.
Rain, chai and this beauty!
I like it when YAs are not the usual happy stuff. This one talks about life, loss, complexities of relationships, love and letting go. Alaska is the yang for Miles’ yin.

There is an overall gloomy feel, but still you feel happyish in the end. Green is magical with his words and storytelling.

  • Landline (Rainbow Rowell)
My YA book post would be incomplete if I don’t mention Rainbow Rowell. She is the undisputed queen of YA. My unmatched love for Eleanor & Park.....
I cannot thank Chumbak enough for making the world look prettier :)
Landline has her signature style – happy whimsy feel. The generous sprinkling of fairy tale sparkle makes it all the more enjoyable. Friendship, love, separation, romance and all that you need to fill your heart with bliss is there in abundance.

Remember that joyous feeling of gorging yummy fuzzy candy floss! Landline is the candy floss for your soul….

  • When We Collided (Emery Lord)
Next on the list is a recent favorite that I am surely going to talk for a long time. What Eleanor & Park did to my heart then, When We Collided has done now…
It isn’t the perfect setting or the perfect love story. The imperfection is the magic. Thanks a lot for raising my hope and taking me one step away from reality.
This one surely has a special place in my heart!
How we all need to pause and enjoy the small joys of life, how it is okay to be sad, broken and low sometimes. How some days are worse than others, but what matters is the circle of people you love!
Vivi is the perfect companion one can ask for. And all we girls need a Jonah in our lives. Jonah, who cooks for us, takes us for a ride under the stars and is just always there.

You’ve seen how butter melts on warm toast, that’s how your heart will melt at the poignant ending. Also if there is one YA that you want to read this year, make sure it is When We Collided (yes, it is that good).

PS – You might want to keep tissue handy.

  • The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (Jennifer E. Smith)
If you are looking for a fun cheesy romance, this is what you should be reading. Not that I haven’t read better ones, but this one manages to stay with you.

Reminds you of that first love, toe curling happiness, and college days. Jennifer Smith is a pro in turning the world a happier place through her rose tinted stories, this being one of them. This would also make a perfect vacation read.
Love to love it!
The teenage romance fills you with new energy. Cute, upbeat, and highly adorable, read this when you want to feel young.

What’s your favorite young adult book and does your favorite match mine? Let me know. I am always up for bookish conversations!

Until next time, Happy Reading….
