BTS Love - Books, Travel, Sentiments!

Hi everyone! Starting a new day with positive thoughts, happy memories, and thinking about all the beautiful books in the world helps me sail through. I’m hoping all of you are being responsible citizens and not stepping out.

But can’t help when the heart longs for a pina colada on the beach or for those balmy sunsets in the mountains, all we can do is visit the photo gallery and feel happy about all the memories.

Up above the world so high! My kind of reading nook.......

The idea of a vacation is so exciting, choosing the destination, finding places to visit, and endless lists! For me, an added element of fun is choosing the perfect vacation book. It needs to be fluffy, match the vibe, and of course should have all the feels to make the vacation all the more lovely.

So here are some of my favorite travel memories and the books I read on those vacations.

  • Honeymoon read – Truly Devious

Reading true crime on your honeymoon! Why not??? I picked this because of the plot and thinking how quick paced it would be, and of course after hearing all the praise for the book. I loved it back then, but now it’s been over a year and its time to refresh the memories and go on with the series. The backdrop of Istanbul skyline, Turkish tea, and amazing weather made this book a lot more memorable.

Istanbul Diaries!!
It is time to blackmail SM to buy me the remaining two books the series and plan a new vacation. (Chants incessantly – Go Corona Go)

  • Majestic Manali - All the Bright Places

My affinity for mountains and YA contemporary is unmatched. All the Bright Places is a beautiful book that talks about mental health and friendship. The theme of the book is a little heavy, but the words are woven magically that you get lost in them.

Swinging into happiness with a good book and mighty mountains in the background!!

And for me it became all the more special because I was reading it in Manali, one of paa’s favorite mountain destinations.

  • Romeo Love – Fangirl

It’s difficult to pick a favorite vacation, but our first and only pet friendly vacation in Lansdowne was so much fun. The only heartbreaking thing about a vacation is when you have to leave your pet behind, but for this particular vacation Romeo was with us and it was a whole new experience.

Heartwarming memories of my favorite people!

His fascination on seeing monkeys and mountains, enjoying lassi on the way, and those cuddles that we always crave were with us. Sun-soaking in the mountains, playing fetch, eating delicious food, and spending time doing absolutely nothing in that beautiful destination is something that’s so close to my heart. And I was reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell on the trip. Those afternoons with chai, my book, and my babyyy – happy times!

  • Letters from Nam – The Stationery Shop of Tehran

The trip to Vietnam was like a race against Corona. It was the best thing to have happened until now in 2020. Actually coming back home safely was the best thing and I’ll be forever grateful for it.

If there’s one genre that I love after YA contemporary, it has to be historical fiction. This beautiful book is set in the backdrop of Tehran during the time of Civil War. It is basically a love story and I’m always up for deep-rooted love stories, especially on a vacation. Loved the slow-burning romance, lyrical writing style, and how the characters matured in the book.

Airport Rituals - Check-in and Snickers :)

Reading it on the roadside café with Vietnamese coffee and impressing locals with my broken Vietnamese is surely a memory that’s forever etched in my heart.

  • Birthday in Naldhera – The Hating Game

Birthday reads have to be extra special and what better than a romance! I was so excited to spend my birthday up in the mountains with my favorite person in life – Maa!

Mom and I with our first loves!

The hate to love trope is something I really enjoy in romance and this one with so many elements of steamy romance and lovely banter made it such a happy read. I remember reading it at the café in Shimla for my birthday lunch. Delicious food, mountain breeze and crisp sunshine, Vodka, gossiping with maa – what else could I ask for in life!

Now that's a good life
